Street Sense Media

Street Sense Media

Street Sense Media is a nonprofit organization based in D.C. dedicated to providing economic opportunity for and elevating the voices of people with lived experience of homelessness. Part of their operations include the production of a biweekly street paper.

The following includes design/illustration highlights from Fall 2025 to Spring 2026, where I worked in tandem with another senior graphic design intern, helping format the content of the paper every week.

Front Cover Design (Vol. 23, Issue 15)
This issue was released on June 3rd, 2026, detailing local nonprofit organizations' concerns regarding the upcoming America 250th celebrations scheduled to take place in D.C.

Front Cover Design (Vol. 23, Issue 4)
The very first issue of 2026! While many editions of the paper sometimes contain unfortunate news and updates, we decided to aim for a more optimistic tone to kick off the new year.

Feature Spread (Vol. 23, Issue 15)

Audience Survey Posts
Series of social media posts meant to help engage regular Street Sense buyers and gather feedback for future issues.

Arts Section (Vol. 23, Issue 9, pg. 12-13)

At the beginning of the week for every new issue, I would be tasked with tightly puzzling together our arts section, so that every artist/vendor scheduled to be included, fit onto one 2-page spread (as a byproduct, I had the pleasure of getting to know many vendors through reading their poetry and consuming their artwork!). These examples include the general structure I was asked to follow.
